I first heard about Boat Bar because they made a Crab Donut that I really wanted to try. However, they no longer have it. That's okay though, because the menu items they still have are all delicious. Everything is a small plate that can be shared. They also specialize in freshly shucked oysters with a great variety of local catches. The staff are very knowledgeable about the different varieties and the flavor differences. We ordered the fish dip, the Manila clams, and the scallop tartare. We also got 3 types of oysters, which I embarrassingly forgot the names of. They were tasty; however, the portions were very small for the price. Also, some of the items felt awkward, like ritz crackers to go with the fish dip. The pickles in that plate were also extremely salty that it hurt. The bread with the Manila clams was also extremely salty, which made it hard to dip in the already salty clams. I did enjoy the scallop tartare and all the seafood tasted fresh. Parking is difficult to find as it is located centrally in the Capitol Hill area. The bar is connected to bateau, which specializes in steaks. You can also order their steaks here at the boat bar. The place is very nice and it is easy to make a reservation online; save this for a special date night as it is definitely a place of presentation rather than a full meal. Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5, and I'm rounding to 4.

Oysters were delicious. Could've just ate those and been happy! Hot sauce is a must to get too. We tried a handful of things off the menu, nothing besides the salad really stood out. Super small portions and it's a bit on the pricier side, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're really hungry unless you want to spend a pretty penny. Service was good, very attentive and friendly. We loved the atmosphere. One of our favorite restaurant interiors in the city. Tall ceilings, dim lighting, perfect music. Definitely would come back for just that.

Oysters, clams, white wine, oh my!! We had an above and beyond dinner at Boat Bar! Every dish was superb! My favorite was the Manila clams, and the broth was perfect for dipping. The service was so kind and the ambiance of the restaurant was adorable. We will be back to take advantage of their incredible happy hour specials!

Since moving here 2 years ago Boat Bar has been a place I have always wanted to go to. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is very light with the best contrast of greens, blues, silver and bronze that brings the experience of dining to a different place. For being in Capitol Hill Boat Bar knows how to ingulf you in the nautical vibes. I came in for a small solo pre dinner and was rather satisfied with what I had for the most part. Started out with a Pathfinder Spritz which is the non alcoholic "Aperol Spritz" I enjoyed that while I had what might be the favorite dish of my visit which was the Dungeness crab donut. A wonderful contrast of sweet, subtle and savory. I could easily eat a half dozen and have no shame afterwards without a doubt. Following that I had the petite grass fed burger, and to be honest I expected the burger to be rather larger and not a slider but it was still good with flavor. I contemplated getting another one but I wanted to at least try something else. I ordered a non alcoholic negroni that would be accompanied with my sausage, sauerkraut, mustard and fingerling potatoes dish. Flavors were quite decent and I personally wish the sausage had more spice for my liking but was still a good dish to have. Overall the experience for the first time going was not too bad. I am looking forward to going back to try the main attractions that drive people to dine at Boat Bar.

Came to eat dinner at Boat Bar around 9pm on a Saturday night. For a party of 2, there was no wait. Food: - Oysters: 4/5 (Chelsea Gem, Chelsea Sapphire, Sirena, Cliff Point, Lucky Penny, Summerstone, Eld Inlet, Hammersley Inlet) I don't really remember each oyster, but I just know I really liked the Chelsea Gem and Lucky Penny the most!! Very tasty and a lot less ocean-y flavor than the others. Only a 4/5 because some were really good and some were okay. It really just depends on the type. - Manila Clams, 'nduja, garlic, butter sauce, grilled bread: 4/5 The clams were SO GOOD. However, the sauce itself was very heavy and oily. Overall well cooked and tasty, but just too heavy for me. - Frites and aioli: 5/5 Just fries haha. Well seasoned. Aioli was good, but we dipped the fries in the clam sauce instead. Service: Amazing service!! Servers were so kind and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. They were closing soon and did not rush us either. Pricing: $$ Pretty pricey because we ordered 16 oysters, but we left feeling very full and the quality of the food was great! Worth the price imo, but I probably wouldn't order as many oysters next time. Ambiance: Real candles at the table if that gives you an idea of the ambiance... haha but honestly it can be casual or fancy. Feels very cozy inside and a good date night place! Probably some of the best oysters I have ever had... I will be back one day for more :-)

We were in Seattle for a visit and decided to do a family dinner at the Boat Bar... overall it was really fun, and the food was great, but it's not cheap! Here is what we noticed: - We were able to make reservations fairly easily on OpenTable, and even had to change it the same day, but we didn't have any problem. - The walls are all glass pretty much and they all open up creating an open area, breezy atmosphere, which was super great. - To take advantage of the happy hour specials (which ended up not being that great anyway, as we only got $4 off for 16 oysters), we ordered oysters right away. We got four different types and they were all good. It was a little annoying that we had to pay two dollars for the hot sauce. - The cocktail menu was really nice, so we started with that. They had both wine by the glass as well as bottles and we ordered a bottle later on. - They present the menu as being more tapas like so we ordered different dishes throughout the evening and shared them all. We especially liked the Manila clams (be sure to order the focaccia to have extra bread to dip in the broth), the crab doughnut, and the steak Tartar. The gem lettuces were a surprise and a great addition to our meal too! - The service was pretty good... It started out a little bit confusing as we were waiting until somebody came over to our table a bit longer than I would expect after we were seated, but once that was resolved, service was excellent throughout the evening. Bottom line: The Boat Bar was a fun experience and delivered a great meal. We would recommend it!
